UNIFORM & ENSEMBLE
The look is traditional. The way we wear it is unmistakably, Northport.
Our uniform comes from traditional Highland dress, but it has grown into something that feels distinctly ours. We adjust pieces for the season and the occasion.
From the Glengarry to the kilt, each part of the uniform helps create the band’s traditional look. Details like the sporran, hose, flashes, and ghillies bring everything together. For formal events, the band wears white shirts, vests, and jackets, with sweaters and lighter rugby shirts used depending on the season and weather.
THE TARTAN
Muted Graham of Menteith
The band’s founding members chose Muted Graham of Menteith tartan to reflect the place they called home: a village shaped by both land and sea. Its muted greens and blue-green tones remain one of the most recognizable parts of the Northport look.
The tartan connects the ensemble visually across kilts and accessories while giving the band a distinctive identity that feels rooted in Northport rather than generic Highland imagery.
